What Does Airplane Mode Do?
Airplane mode disables Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, cellular and data connections on mobile devices.

iPhone, Airplane Mode
Cellular: Your device will stop communicating with cell towers. You won’t be able to send or
receive anything that depends on cellular data, from voice calls to SMS messages to mobile
data.
GPS: Airplane mode also disables GPS to some extent. It will disable apps from using Location
Services, any GPS triangular from cell towers. However, your phone can connect to satellites
and you can see your position in Google Maps using GPS.
Wi-Fi: If you are onnected to a Wi-Fi network, you’ll be disconnected. Your phone will also
stop scanning for nearby Wi-Fi networks and attempting to join them.
Bluetooth: Airplane mode also disables Bluetooth, and your connection with other devices like wireless headsets.
However you can turn on Wifi and Bluetooth manually in Airplane Mode if needed.
